Understanding Femistry, Perimenopause,
and Menopause

Femistry is a groundbreaking non-hormonal treatment for the effects of perimenopause and menopause. If this is still unclear, you’re right. Language around hormonal health is frustratingly imprecise (more on that shortly). We built this page to put the finest point possible on what we do, what our claims mean, and how we can help you.

Breaking Down Peri/Menopause

At its most technical, “menopause” is the moment when you’ve gone a whole year without a period. Everything leading up to this is perimenopause and all that comes after is post-menopause.

You might have noticed that this isn’t how the words are usually used. In practice, menopause is often associated with things like missed periods and hot flashes, while perimenopause is most frequently used if you’re still in your 30s or 40s. Clearly, there’s overlap (you can very much be in your 40s and have hot flashes), and the takeaway is that while the terms are arbitrary, the cause isn’t: Beginning in your mid-to-late 30s, your body’s production of estrogen begins to slow. By the time you hit your 40s and beyond, you’ll start to feel the impact of this.

Unpacking the Symptoms

Hot flashes and night sweats are just two of over 100 symptoms associated with both perimenopause and menopause. Among the most common are weight gain, insomnia, anxiety, brain fog, fatigue, short-term memory loss, vaginal dryness, loss of libido, mood swings, depression, hair loss, heart palpitations, sleep apnea, and thinning skin.

One of the challenges to this is that it can be difficult to know if your symptoms are due to peri/menopause or something else. Talking to your PCP or even getting a hormone panel (doctors are split on the usefulness of this blood test), can help you level-set. So can logging your symptoms. But especially if you’re 45 or older, if you’re like most women, hormone changes are most likely playing some kind of role in how you feel.

What Femistry Does

Femistry is a whole new way to treat perimenopause and menopause developed by a team of doctors with deep knowledge of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). An all-natural herbal blend of ingredients used for thousands of years, our formulation has been shown in Phase 2 Clinical Trials to reduce certain peri/menopause symptoms. Women on Femistry had 71% fewer hot flashes, for example.

The scientific way to describe what Femistry does is that it works on a class of estrogen receptors in the body called beta estrogen receptors. Importantly, it does not work on alpha estrogen receptors, which are the receptors connected to breast and uterine cancer (meaning that Femistry can be a strong choice for cancer survivors and others who should not take hormone therapy).
