Dr. Jennifer Garrison
Dr.Jennifer Garrison, PhD, is a passionate advocate for women’s health and is pioneering a new movement to advance science focused on female aging. She is Co-Founder and Director of the Global Consortium for Reproductive Longevity & Equality (GCRLE) and an Assistant Professor at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging. She also holds appointments in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology at UCSF and the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology at USC. Her research lab studies the role of brain-body communication in systemic aging, and how changes in the complex communication between the ovary and brain during middle-age lead to reproductive decline, infertility, and menopause.
She is a leader in establishing the ecosystem around female reproductive aging research and plays an active role in the aging field as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Aging Association (AGE), a reviewer for the American Federation of Aging Research (AFAR), and as Associate Director of the Buck-USC Biology of Aging PhD program. Dr. Garrison was named an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Neuroscience Research Fellow and an Allen Institute for Brain Science Next Generation Leader and is the recipient of a Glenn Medical Foundation Award for Research in Biological Mechanisms of Aging, a Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award from the NIH, a Junior Faculty Award from the American Federation of Aging Research, and a Healthy Longevity Catalyst Award from the National Academy of Medicine.
Dr. Mary Tagliaferri
Dr. Mary Tagliaferri is a renowned physician and researcher in the field of traditional Chinese medicine and integrative health. She currently serves as the Chief Development Officer and Senior Vice President at Nektar Therapeutics, where she leads the company's efforts to develop innovative treatments for cancer and auto-immune diseases. Before joining Nektar, Dr. Tagliaferri co-founded Bionovo, Inc. and served as its Chief Medical Officer and President. She is also a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, and has been named to the Women who Lead in Life Sciences and Most Influential Women in Business lists by the San Francisco Business Times.
Dr. Tagliaferri's passion for integrative health stems from her own experience with cancer, which she successfully treated with a combination of Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine.
She spent 10 years at the University of California, San Francisco developing an alternative and complementary medicine program that included research, education, and a TCM clinic at the UCSF Mount Zion Cancer Center. This work led to the creation of the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, one of the first comprehensive programs to treat patients using a whole-person approach.
In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Tagliaferri is also a dedicated meditator and spirit coach. She has taught meditation classes and has been practicing daily for over 20 years.
Dr. Alicia Jackson
Dr. Alicia Jackson is co-founder and Executive Chairman of Femistry. Dedicated to women's health, she is excited about leveraging thousands of years of traditional Chinese medicine and wisdom, backed by deep science, to offer safe and effective health and hormone support to women going through menopause.
With a PhD from MIT and extensive knowledge of women's health and the menopause market, Dr. Jackson's goal is to bring advances in science to market that promote overall wellbeing and longevity. She has successfully founded two other companies in the health space: Drawbridge Health and Evernow. As CEO of Evernow, she has been at the forefront of the next generation of telemedicine, focusing on bringing the latest evidence-based care and treatments to menopause. Drawbridge Health, acquired by Thorne Healthtech, is a healthcare technology company that offers a more comfortable and convenient blood testing solution to improve wellbeing.
Dr. Jackson also sits on the board of directors of ImmuneBridge, a company that is developing the next generation of allogeneic cellular medicines to make curative cancer therapies accessible to everyone.
Throughout her career, Dr. Jackson has been committed to leveraging policy and innovation to bring breakthrough advances to all people. She has served as a policy staffer for the US Senate Energy Committee and was the Deputy Director of the Biological Technologies Office at DARPA, the Pentagon's principal engine for disruptive innovation. Dr. Jackson is an accomplished advisor to several early-stage start-ups and has served on the Editorial Advisory Board at TEDMED.
Dr. Jackson's passion for women's health shines through in her commitment to developing evidence-backed solutions to support women's wellbeing and longevity. She understands the unique challenges that women face, especially during menopause, and is dedicated to making a positive impact in their lives. Through Femistry, Dr. Jackson believes that there is an opportunity to bring to market natural solutions that are more sophisticated than traditional pharma treatments, providing women with the care they deserve.
